The enchanted Scottish highlands, sublime chocolate, and the colors of royalty. Of course you want to hear more…
Every wedding is a fairy tale. But Rhiannon and Ryan’s might actually be a fairy tale. They were married at a Scottish castle, Ryan in a formidable traditional kilt and Rhiannon in an exquisite Adrianna Papell Platinum gown. We assume (know) there were bagpipes—one of our favorite sounds in the universe—many, many breathtaking natural settings, emerald green grass, luxe tartan, romantic fog. And then there was the dress…
Rhiannon’s Platinum gown, named “The Della,” is a soft, delicate lace mermaid gown with intricate hand detailing over the shoulders, balanced by a high illusion neckline. It was the first dress Rhiannon tried, in the first bridal salon she visited. “As soon as I put it on, I knew nothing would compare. I’d never seen anything like it and I can’t even describe how it made me feel!” (Sounds like joy to us!)
How did Rhiannon know Ryan was the man she’d marry? “As cliché as it sounds, I just knew,” she told us. “It was like we’d known each other forever. I’ve never felt jealous or insecure around him and I think that’s just because I trust him more than anyone.” (Chills.)
Rhiannon’s favorite parts of her gorgeous wedding were getting ready, “feeling so excited and nervous,” and spending time with Ryan and their photographer, Michael Carver, while shooting engagement photos. [Michael] has such a calming energy,” Rhiannon said. I felt so content and enjoyed every minute of it.”
Rhiannon and Ryan’s traditional Scottish theme took on a very sweet twist. While the décor was based in tartan and thistles, they chose a festive purple to coordinate with customized Cadbury chocolate; their wedding favors were personalized chocolate bars. Those who were unable to attend the wedding due to the pandemic received their chocolate via special delivery. While the pandemic also prevented a reception and dancing, when Rhiannon and Ryan do have a party, we can only imagine how epic it will be.
Said Rhiannon, “I wasn’t compromising on having a cake, even with minimal guests. (Neither would we, Rhiannon. Neither would we.) The couple chose a 3-tiered cake topped with a white stag head, surrounded by real thistles. The layers: chocolate, vanilla and lemon. (Perfection.)
As for what makes Rhiannon feel most beautiful? “The best I’ve ever felt was the day of the wedding, when I put on the dress. It fit me like a glove and gave me such a confidence boost.” (She looked stunning.)
To Rhiannon and Ryan, meala-naidheachd! (That’s Scottish Gaelic for “Congratulations!”) Here’s to a life of beauty, inside and out.
