Gala Dresses

We've always had a thing for galas, and especially for the gala dresses and gowns we wear to them. Our collection of gala dresses and gowns for black tie occasions is featured in a range of styles and silhouettes—sleek and chic, elegant and flowing, glamorous and shimmering. Accented with your personal style, they rise to every occasion.

What are gala dresses?

Galas are grandiose events with explicit dress codes. Elegant full-length gowns are the standard dress to wear to galas, but check your invite if there's a festive theme to adhere to. If the invite or past photos of the gala don't make it obvious, dress modestly. Stick with a sheath dress or A-line.

What is gala dress code?

A gala calls for a chic and elegant dress code, but not always. It could be black tie, black tie optional or creative, or semi-formal. For less formal galas, cocktail dresses are ok. For formal black tie affairs, long evening gowns are the preferred dress code. The best dress to wear to a gala is one that’s form-fitting, feels comfortable, and follows the gala theme. Look at the color pallete on the invitation for inspiration. Adrianna Papell’s gala dresses, in stunning silhouettes, make it easy to show off your personal style with the proper glam. Not a dress person? Swap in a sophisticated jumpsuit.

Can gala dresses be short?

Most of us don’t just happen to have a floor-length silk gown hanging around in our closet. Unless there's an explicit dress code stated on your invite, short dresses are fine to wear to a gala. Be modest though. This is not the occasion for the mini dress. If all your dresses are too short, ditch the dress for a pantsuit (no more worrying if you are showing too much skin).
